Atlético Nacional youngster José Escorcia is on Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion’s transfer radar.
The 16-year-old is yet to make his first team debut for the Colombian club but has still caught Crystal Palace and Brighton’s attention.
Brighton have heavily looked at the South American market over the past few years. A few signings have gone on to become regulars at The Amex before moving elsewhere.
Alexis Mac Allister and Moisés Caicedo are the notable examples and moved to Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.
The Seagulls continue to look at young talents from South America. Last week, Sport Witness covered claims from Argentina of their interest in Chilean Vicente Pizarro, who is at Rosario Central.
Crystal Palace and Brighton show interest
José Escorcia is on the Premier League duo’s agenda and Bolvaip cover the latest on the Eagles and Fabian Hürzeler’s side. Their title say the forward is attracting interest from the Premier League.
Within the report, they mention Crystal Palace and Brighton as the two teams are looking to sign the Colombia U17 international.
Operating mainly on the left wing, he starred for his country at the U17 South American championship.
The wonderkid scored four goals and contributed two assists from six matches. It includes a goal and an assist in the 4-0 win over Argentina in the tournament’s final earlier this month.
Crystal Palace and Brighton would have to be wary of other unnamed clubs in the transfer chase. These teams could make contact in the next few hours.
Atlético Nacional, down their end, could ‘receive a significant transfer fee’ for the young attacker. The report makes no mention of the fee or the Colombian club’s demand to sell him.
It’s unclear whether Oliver Glasner’s side or The Amex club will make offers soon.
Why PL sides have to wait
José Escorcia turn 18 years of age in July 2027 and due to post Brexit rules, he won’t be able to move to the UK until then.
In other words, if Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion or another British club were to agree a deal, it’ll be for the Colombian to arrive next year.
