Croatian newspaper Vecernji List are bursting with excitement.
They’ve convinced themselves, thanks to claims from Italy and England, that Mario Mandzukic is off to Manchester United.
They state: ‘Mandzukic writes history! The English say they will sign with the English giant on Monday’
And add: ‘A transfer to Old Trafford is due to take place no later than Thursday 8 August, when the English League transitional deadline expires.’
Vecernji List report he’ll be the first Croatian to have played for Manchester United, and it’s that excitement which seems to have them claiming it’s a done deal rather than something which may happen.
Nevertheless, the Croatian excitement has been echoed by claims in Italy which state the player would be keen on such a move.
That it’s been welcomed by some Manchester United supporters as well is cause for further excitement, although Vecernji List add: ‘Of course, there are United fans who underestimate Mandzu, but they are in the minority.’
It’s then suggested these fans critical of the potential deal mustn’t watch football outside of the Premier League and therefore can’t be aware of how good the clearly much-loved Juventus player is.
Should this transfer happen, then it’s likely to be cause for celebration in the Croatian media… they’re getting started already.
