Jamie Vardy scored twice for Cremonese in their 3-1 win over Bologna on Monday. That takes him to four goals in nine matches since he left Leicester City.
The 38-year-old has found the back of the net in major games against Atalanta and Juventus.
Cremonese manager Davide Nicola has now spoken about the player and his impact since he left Leicester City as a free agent.
Nicola was asked why Vardy has been a success, and the veteran was described as a ‘role model’.
The manager said – relayed by Gazzetta dello Sport: “For us, Jamie is a role model. Great champions are incredibly straightforward, and they already know what they have to do on the pitch and how to do it. A true champion never makes mistakes in his approach and is always constructive.”
Jamie Vardy fitting in well after Leicester City exit

Nicola explained the Cremonese squad have played their part in making things work.
“I also want to give credit to the lads who integrated him well. Cremonese welcomed Vardy in the right way. He has his habits, but he made himself available to the team in the best possible way.”
Vardy is clearly making the right effort to fit into a completely new environment. The fact that he is still doing that at 39, while putting ego aside, says everything about him.
The former England international is one of the reasons the Cremona club are 11th in the table. When the season started off, they were one of the main candidates for relegation.
