There’s been a claim in the British media today that Crystal Palace are prepared to offer €22.4m to sign Besiktas forward Cenk Tosun in the next window, which has now filtered into the Turkish press.
The Premier League side were linked with the Turkey international in the summer, when they made two offers to sign the player.
Aspor have reported on Crystal Palace’s potential ‘crazy offer’ to sign Tosun in the new year, citing The Sun as the source for these claims. The Eagles travelled to Istanbul to get a lowdown Tosun during Turkey’s clash with Iceland, but he failed to impress in his country’s 3-0 defeat.
However, these claims about a €22.4m bid coming in from Crystal Palace could be questioned given Besiktas accepted the London side’s deadline day offer of £12.5m.
At the time it was reported the Turkish champions were willing to sell, but they weren’t sure about the payment plan Crystal Palace had presented to them. It was also reported Tosun’s move would have happened if Crystal Palace’s improved bid had arrived in the previous week.
The Turkey international also confirmed he would have arrived in England if this bid had been tabled earlier in the window, but Besiktas were unsure about selling the player on deadline day as it only gave them a week, due to Turkey’s extended window, to find a replacement.
