Coventry City star Milan van Ewijk has been praised for his ‘insane’ performance against Manchester United, a display that’s led to questions over how he wasn’t picked up in the Netherlands.
Journalist Henk Spaan covers the full-back today after he continued his superb first season for Coventry with a stellar display against Manchester United in their FA Cup semi-final defeat.
He was given the task of keeping Marcus Rashford quiet in that game and did it with aplomb, something he admitted afterwards he was more than proud of.
Spaan believes he should be, handing the defender a 9/10 for his performance and labelling the fact he managed 29 passes in the final third himself as an ‘insane amount for a right-back’.
The fact he also managed four dribbles with a 100% success rate also didn’t go unnoticed and is something he deserves praise for too.
Spaan then wonders how the Coventry man could have been missed in the Netherlands given he’d played well for Heerenveen previously.
He seems to think the big clubs there have missed a trick, but praises Coventry who clearly ‘scout better’ than some of the big sides back in the Eredivisie.
It’s all praise for them and Van Ewijk, who appears to be quickly making a name for himself after arriving last summer, and could be one to keep an eye on this year after his display at Wembley.
