Coventry City star Viktor Gyökeres has revealed how he and Rotherham United goalkeeper Viktor Johansson have been mocking each other this year as they compete in the Championship.
The pair have today sat down for an interview with Aftonbladet at the start of the international break, with the pair having been called up for Sweden.
Gyökeres has been in fine form for the Sky Blues this season, with 18 goals and eight assists in 38 games in the league helping Coventry City to eighth in the table and three points outside of the top six.
It’s another superb campaign for the striker, who has continued his fine form from last year, when had 18 goals and five assists in 47 games in all competitions.
Two of his goals this season have been scored past international teammate Johansson, who currently plies his trade for Rotherham United, also in the Championship.
The first came in a 2-2 draw between Coventry and Rotherham back in October, with Gyökeres getting the better of his compatriot from the penalty spot to secure a point for his side.
He was again on the scoresheet in the return fixture in February, again scoring in added time to secure Coventry a 2-0 win.
Those goals broke something of a duck against Johansson, something his teammate was more than happy to remind him of.
“He got a Christmas present later,” Gyökeres explained.
“It was a picture just after I scored the goal and then I saw it and framed it. So, it was his Christmas present. It was fun.
“He has teased me a bit before when we have met because I haven’t scored. So, it was just because he has been on at me.
“He has scored two goals on me. One a penalty and then another goal in stoppage time. Then he was a bit cocky, but I like that. I have to give back later!” added Johansson.
“He is unbelievable. He’s really big in the Championship. He is talked about everywhere and all the time.”
