Coventry City are keen on signing Mjällby AIF’s Abdoulie Manneh in the winter market.

That’s at least what Expressen in Sweden are reporting, and they cover Coventry City’s efforts to secure the 21-year-old’s services.

It’s claimed Mjällby AIF are negotiating with Coventry City for the forward’s transfer, most likely in January. The report adds the parties are hoping to ‘complete the deal within a few weeks’.

The Gambia international came close to joining Olympiacos in the summer before he pulled the plug at the last minute. He took this step because the Greek club changed the terms of his contractual agreement.

Manneh could now be on his way to the Championship side. Negotiations are ongoing between the Swedish club and Coventry City.

If Frank Lampard’s side were to close the operation, Expressen claim it’ll be a new record sale for Mjällby AIF. Their current record is said to be at €1.1m, which they received from Colin Rösler’s sale to Malmö FF in 2024.

He had earlier talked about his goal of playing in the Premier League. Coventry City are in contention to secure promotion as they are currently leading the Championship table.

Manneh has mainly operated as a left winger and a centre forward this year, managing nine goals and three assists from 31 matches.
