Everton have enjoyed a good run since David Moyes returned to the club on January 15th, days after they parted ways with Sean Dyche.
The Premier League club suffered a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in Moyes’ first game of the second term. That has been Everton’s only league loss under his orders, and they have picked up 15 points from eight games so far.
Abdoulaye Doucouré was a regular for Everton under Dyche and retained his place in the starting lineup after Moyes’ arrival.
Africa Foot has a report on the Mali international’s future and what they say is Moyes’ stance on him.
The midfielder has less than six months left on his contract and the Toffees intend to hold on to him beyond this season. Moyes is ‘counting a lot’ on Doucouré, who recognises the impact on the new manager’s arrival at Goodison Park.
Africa Foot’s title says ‘an extension in sight’ for the 32-year-old and within the report, it’s claimed he should sign a contract until 2027.
Doucouré joined Everton from Watford in 2020 and it remains to be seen whether he will extend his stay at Goodison Park beyond this season.
