Leicester City defender Jannik Vestergaard could soon sign a new contract with the club, according to reports from Denmark.

Outlet Bold today features a story explaining how things can change quickly in football, given that the centre-back didn’t carry that much importance at the club just a few months ago.

They now claim that according to their own information, there’s a ‘contract proposal on the way’, with Vestergaard being part of the plan Leicester City have to rebuild the club.

The defender’s contract with the Foxes may expire at the end of the season, and Bold highlights that he could ‘freely negotiate’ with any other club.

However, Enzo Maresca’s side are now showing a ‘clear signal’ that he has a ‘great importance’ in the squad, as Leicester City believe he can be a key player for the club in the future.

Vestergaard had indeed been forgotten at the Foxes last season under Brendan Rodgers, when he only had three appearances, none of which came in the Premier League.

Since the relegation, though, he has already played 30 games, and is one of the faces of their promotion campaign under Maresca.
