A month ago, Bild explained Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapié.
This claim made in Germany is now backed up in the Italian press by TuttoMercatoWeb. Along with Spurs, a few Serie A sides have had the defender on their radar.
TMW state the Ecuador international was one of the most interesting players at the World Cup even though his country failed to get out of the group stages.
The centre-back’s performances meant his asking price has increased and this puts him out of reach for the likes of Inter Milan, Juventus, AC Milan and Napoli. That isn’t the case for the north London club.
It’s claimed Spurs manager Antonio Conte wants the defender, with both the ex-Chelsea manager and Tottenham chief Fabio Paratici wanting to ‘burn the competition’ by taking advantage of their economic power to sign Hincapié.
The defender’s name is appreciated by both Conte and Paratici and they are ‘studying the possibility’ to making an offer to bring the South American to London.
TMW are not certain whether the Premier League side plan to send a bid to Leverkusen in January or next summer, but that could all depend on what the Tottenham duo decide is the most urgent area to address in the next transfer window.
