Antonio Conte has been repeatedly linked with a return to Juventus in recent days, with the Turin club having had a poor start to their season.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side are currently eighth in Serie A, and are already seven points behind leaders Napoli. That, of course, isn’t considered good enough for the club and there’s been rumours about Allegri being shown the door.
Conte is perhaps the favourite name to replace him, although it’s thought Juve would have to wait until the end of the season to take the manager from Tottenham.
Inter Milan are also having a disappointing start to the campaign and are just one position above Juventus, in seventh. Simone Inzaghi has had to face comparisons with Conte since he took over, and right now those comparisons aren’t favourable.
Italian journalist Matteo Marani is one of many speaking about Inter’s current struggles, and he’s clear that Inzaghi can’t live up to the legacy left by the current Tottenham manager.
FCInter1908 quote him as saying: “Inter must also reason economically, then there are no alternatives around except Zidane, Tuchel and Pochettino who are top but must adapt to the Italian championship. These are similar speeches to those made for Allegri. Inzaghi is an excellent, good coach but Conte is Conte, it is Conte who founds the cycles and we are also seeing that at Tottenham.”
Marani said Inter had ‘something special’ with Antonio Conte, and it’s clear that if the manager should choose to reject a renewal at Spurs, there’ll be a welcome in Italy for him.
