The Italian media today highlights the future of Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

With the player only having one year left in his contract with the Blues, despite the club’s option to extend it for a further year, he’s seen as a good opportunity for Serie A sides.

Sky Sport, relayed by CalcioMercato.it, claim that AC Milan started contacts with Chelsea to get Loftus-Cheek signed his summer.

It’s said that a first ‘survey’ took place and the Rossoneri would now work to find an agreement with the Blues, with the deal being possibly ‘easily reached’ because of the good relationship between the clubs.

Milan’s early move is said to be a plan to be ‘one step ahead’ of the competition they have from other Serie A clubs. The story claims that the likes of Juventus, Lazio and Roma would all be interested in him, with two former Chelsea managers, Maurizio Sarri and José Mourinho, trying to bring him to the Italian capital.

The story claims that Loftus-Cheek’s intention wasn’t to leave the Blues the summer, but the club are ‘making him understand’ he won’t have an important place in the squad next season.
