The need for a new left-back at Aston Villa appears to remain an issue, which is why Monchi is looking at Marcos Acuña, whom he knows well from his time at Sevilla.
The Argentine has already been linked a number of times with Unai Emery’s squad this summer, and journalist Matteo Moretto, relayed by El Desmarque, reported an update on Monday.
He claims that Aston Villa are ‘interested’ in Acuña, and there have already been ‘contacts between all parties’ that are involved in a potential transfer.
This means Monchi has contacted both his former club and the representatives of the World Cup winner, which will certainly mean the player is aware that he could be headed towards a transfer to Villa Park.
El Desmarque, down their end, recall that Aston Villa already have Lucas Digne and Alex Moreno at the club at the position, but it remains to be seen if both will be there come the end of the window.
The interest in Acuña suggests not, but, then again, there could be various plans in place behind the scenes at Villa Park with the current squad, as Emery continues his reshuffle following his arrival and the 5-1 defeat against Newcastle.
