Italian side Hellas Verona ‘have continued’ contacts Rangers for defender Ridvan Yilmaz today as they look to secure his signature this month from Philippe Clément’s side.
That’s according to Corriere di Verona, who say the two clubs are ‘in talks’ over a deal for the left-back.
Reports yesterday indicated that Verona were looking into a deal for the 22-year-old Rangers left back, with Rangers already in talks to let him leave Ibrox.
Those explained as they were looking into a deal for Verona’s Josh Doig, the possibility of Yilmaz going the other way had come up.
He’s been in and out of the Rangers side this season, featuring in just 48% of the available minutes in the league so far.
Ten of his appearances have come under Philippe Clement since his arrival at Ibrox and seven in the starting 11 to boot but all indications are that he would be allowed to leave, with Doig a natural replacement and competition for Borna Barisic in the left-back spot.
Corriere di Verona now follow that up and explain ‘contacts have continued’ between the two sides today and Rangers are very much ‘in talks’ with their Italian counterparts over a deal.
They make no mention of the nature of the potential deal, whether it would be a loan, full transfer or even an exchange with Doig, just that negotiations are on their way and the possibility of Yilmaz leaving Ibrox this month is a distinct one.
