When it became apparent that Manchester United were thinking about keeping Diogo Dalot, Max Aarons quickly became a target for AS Roma.

Needing a new right-back, José Mourinho made his demands clear to Tiago Pinto, who turned his attention to the transfer market to see who was available.

While not exactly on the transfer list, there was a feeling the Norwich City defender could be lured away from the Canaries in the upcoming transfer window, as the club lie bottom of the Premier League, with a game in over Newcastle.

Talk of a loan with a view to buy quickly emerged, although that seems like wishful thinking, as Dean Smith’s side appeared to want money up front for the player, in the region of €20m+.

Corriere dello Sport cover the situation on Monday, reporting that ‘the idea of if adding an English right-back to the squad doesn’t displease Mourinho’.

With that in mind, the newspaper state ‘contacts have already started with the entourage of Max Aarons’, suggesting the first steps have been taken regarding a transfer.

However, there is one question asked: ‘Are we sure that experience can be associated with this guy?’, seeing as Mourinho tends to prefer players who have a certain number of games under their belt.

So, AS Roma appear to have already spoken to Aarons’ representatives, although whether Norwich City know anything about this remains to be seen, as that’s rather important.
