Swansea City are keen on Hammarby IF’s Jusef Erabi and have already made advances to try and secure his services this summer.
On August 7th, Expressen reported Swansea City made two bids to sign the striker, who can also operate on the left wing. They didn’t mention the details but insisted that the Welsh club are pushing forward for an agreement.
Fotbollskanalen now report the Swedish club have rejected Swansea City’s second offer.
They also had a chat with Hammarby IF sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg and he’s now confirmed the Championship side’s approach for Erabi. According to the official, there are currently no ongoing negotiations with Swansea City.
“We have been in contact with Swansea. We have been. To be completely honest, I don’t know. There is no ongoing discussion now, in any case,” he said.
The sporting director, in a way, has confirmed offers from Alan Sheehan’s side to sign the 22-year-old.
Fotbollskanalen specifically asked him whether Swansea City haven’t returned with a new bid after the official’s last refusal. Responding to that, Hjelmberg explained: “That’s what you could say.”
Erabi’s contract expires in December 2026, and Hjelmberg is not closing the door on his exit in this window.
“We have been in contact with a few different clubs who have asked questions and consulted, and so on. Then we will see what happens, but I feel that he has his head in place and is fully focused,” he added.
“Then we will have to deal with it if something concrete comes up that we can decide on.”
Erabi has been with the Swedish club since 2020 and scored 29 times and registered four assists from 96 games of which six goals and an assist are from this year.
