Back in December, journalist Marco Guidi claimed AC Milan are interested in Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta.

The Eagles’ €60m price tag for the striker came as a shock to the Rossoneri, who expected the demand to be lower. This is because the Frenchman’s current contract at Selhurst Park runs out in 2027.

AC Milan ended up signing Niclas Füllkrug from West Ham but that hasn’t brought an end to Italian interest in Mateta.

Juventus are now emerging as a suitor for the 28-year-old.

TuttoSport report that ‘in the last few hours’, the Old Lady have contacted Crystal Palace for the striker.

Talks were held but they were only exploratory. Juve wanted to understand whether a move for the France international is possible or not.

Crystal Palace made it clear that they want €30m to €35m for the player.

Something similar has been reported by Gianluca di Marzio.

The journalist claims that contact was made by the Italian giants and they are interested in signing Mateta this month.

Di Marzio also mentions a price tag of €30m to €35m but points out that a summer move could be on the cards instead.

Crystal Palace player may be tempted by big move

Juve manager Luciano Spalletti has given his approval to the transfer, with Dusan Vlahovic’s contract running out in the summer. The Eagles star would be a possible replacement for the outgoing Serbian, a situation which Juve need to address.

The similarity in information could indicate that this is a leak from Mateta’s entourage. He has obviously grown in stature over the past two seasons at Crystal Palace.

At 28, he still has the opportunity to earn one last big contract at a major club. That is perhaps why those around the striker are working to find a solution that suits all the parties by touching base with multiple possibilities.
