Oliver Glasner took Crystal Palace to Wembley at the weekend and he’ll be taking them back there for the FA Cup final next month.

The Eagles eased through against an Aston Villa side who weren’t able to really get into the game.

Glasner had a big impact at Crystal Palace when he arrived last season and there was already interest from elsewhere in the summer. Bayern Munich’s haphazard search to replace Thomas Tuchel saw them identify Glasner, but the Premier League club weren’t keen to part.

Recent weeks have seen endless claims in Germany about interest from RB Leipzig, and there’s also thought to be Premier League clubs in the mix.

The Austrian media have repeatedly said that sources close to Glasner have talked down the prospect of him leaving English football, and also stated the manager wouldn’t be especially attracted by the hierarchy system at RB Leipzig.

Following his FA Cup success, Glasner spoke to German magazine Kicker, and his comments are relayed by Laola: “I’m traveling to Austria now, then I’ll come back and prepare my team for the league match against Forest. We want to pick up a few more points in the Premier League and top off the season with a cup win.

“I expect my players to keep quiet about it now. So that applies even more to me as a coach. I’m in constant communication with the club, including about my future. But that’s not really an issue right now.”

There’s every chance Glasner is looking for the club to give him assurances about the summer, and potentially offer a fresh deal.
