Nottingham Forest’s chase for Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga suddenly became a strong story in the Italian media.

It had first been journalist Gianluigi Longari who reported the Reds’ chase for the player. Despite the rumours about a Milan move, it was said the City Ground side made contact to ‘take information’ for the potential signing.

Then outlet Calcio Mercato showed up saying Nottingham Forest made an offer worth €25m for Tanganga. Even though that’s exactly the price demanded by Spurs, it was said the player continues to prioritise a transfer to the Rossoneri.

It turns out this story is getting quite confusing, because even though Tutto Mercato Web now features a third story, it doesn’t really sound like an update on the last one.

The outlet claims Nottingham Forest first placed a €16m offer for Tanaganga, and although that was turned down by Tottenham, the Reds are now ready to ‘raise the offer until it matches Spurs’ requests’, pointing out the London side want €20m.

Also contrary to Calcio Mercato, Tutto Mercato claims the defender now ‘moves further and further away from Milan’, as a clear sign he’s edging closer to the City Ground.
