Borussia Monchengladbach’s Mahmoud Dahoud has been regularly linked with a move to Liverpool. The Syrian born midfielder is believed to be a long term target for the Merseyside club, but a recent report in the English media claimed the Reds are no longer keen on his services.

The 20-year-old has a contract until 2018 at the Bundesliga club, and it’s been reported, although later disputed, there is a release clause of €10m in Dahoud’s contract, but that can only be activated next summer.

According to a latest report on Calciomercato, Liverpool are still keen on signing Dahoud, but face competition from Bayern Munich and Juventus. It’s been reported Juventus have been monitoring Dahoud very closely, and could make a bid in January, but Gladbach want €16m-€18m.

Dragging Bayern Munich into the equation is relatively new, but their interest would be no surprise given Dahoud is an excellent young Bundesliga player.

The German media believe Liverpool remain interested in Dahoud, largely because of the Jurgen Klopp link, and it would be almost be odd if the idea of the signing the player wasn’t a consideration given the potential he’s showed.

There have been repeated  reports in the German media claiming Liverpool could offer as much as €30m for Dahoud, which would seem a reasonable price for the youngster.

The €30m claim has been made several times over a long period in Germany, with Bild pushing that amount in connection to what Liverpool are prepared to pay. That may well be the price Gladbach are looking for.
