Liverpool are ‘serious’ about a move for PSV Eindhoven star Donyell Malen but are yet to make a bid for him.
That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad journalist Rik Elfrink, who backs up reports from yesterday that the Reds are keen on the Dutchman.
We covered comments from Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer yesterday that Liverpool are keen on Malen and were even in discussions with his agent Mino Raiola about a move.
Elfrink has backed that up, reporting that PSV’s player’s are expected back as early as next week from their summer holidays, but Malen will ‘normally be sold’ before that point.
He says that Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund are ‘serious in the market’ for the striker, although there are a number of other clubs showing interest as well.
At the minute, PSV ‘have to wait’ for an ‘official offer’, but that should change, with one ‘expected soon’ at the club.
Like Timmer, he makes no mention of an asking price at this moment in time, although it’s easy to imagine Malen demanding a fee upwards of £30m.
That remains to be seen but with PSV already giving him permission to talk to other clubs and Raiola seemingly hard at work, expect this potential Liverpool deal to pick up pace over the next week.
