On Tuesday, we covered an article in La Nazione stating there was a good chance Edimilson Fernandes would be bought outright by Fiorentina, and now we have more confirmation of that.

The West Ham midfielder has been impressing over the past month since Stefano Pioli put his full trust in him, and despite getting sent off against Udinese, the Switzerland international had repaid him with some great performances and a couple of goals.

Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday take a look at the 22-year-old’s impressive rise in recent weeks and discuss the player’s future in Florence, which is likely to be extended.

They believe the Serie A side ‘will trigger’ the clause and end up paying the Hammers €8m for his services.

Before that, however, there are a lot of hurdles to overcome, mostly on the pitch, as Fiorentina prepare to face Inter in the coming weeks.

For West Ham, they’d be getting their money back and a little bit more, and with Manuel Pellegrini allowing Fernandes to leave on loan in the first place, we doubt he’ll miss him all that much.
