Sevilla defender José Ángel Carmona is complicating a potential move to Nottingham Forest, despite the Spanish club being keen on it happening.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who report that those close to the player are assuring that he wants to stay at the club. That is delaying his potential move to Nottingham Forest.

Sevilla have already reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for the transfer and consider the sale to be very beneficial for them. They remain optimistic that it can go through.

However, the defender has shown an initial reluctance to making the move to England and his entourage are briefing that he would prefer to stay in Seville.

Sevilla are keen on the transfer as they hadn’t foreseen making money from the defender and the offer that Forest have put on the table more than meets their expectations. The Spanish side are desperate to bring in money to help balance their precarious finances.

The current agreement is worth €11m. That’s made up of €9m plus €2m in bonuses should various objectives be met.

That was the first stage and now the focus is on the second stage, which is getting Carmona to give the green light. He is unsure about the switch despite Nottingham Forest offering a much higher salary.

For now, his entourage are confirming to the likes of Estadio Deportivo that he would prefer to stay but Sevilla are confident that, once everything is in writing and done, he will not stand in the way or torpedo the deal.
