West Ham United and Celtic are keen on signing Stade de Reims’ Mory Gbane. The London club and Martin O’Neill’s side could battle it out for his signature this summer.

The defensive midfielder joined the Ligue 2 side from Gil Vicente in February 2025. He made 30 appearances last season and even captained his side regularly since February.

It shows the impact the 25-year-old has had at Stade de Reims. This would have also seen him attract West Ham and Celtic interest.

West Ham and Celtic face Turkey threat 

Foot Mercato now claim the Ivory Coast international’s technical skills have caught the attention of European clubs.

West Ham United, Celtic and Trabzonspor are his suitors and these clubs have shown ‘concrete interest’.

The trio are ‘ready to make a move’ to sign Mory Gbane.

The Ivorian is likely to change clubs this summer. Luckily for the Hammers, Celtic and others, Stade de Reims are ‘not opposed’ to his sale as long as there’s a substantial offer.

Foot Mercato make no mention of the French club’s demand or the fee West Ham and Celtic could offer.

Player and club need convincing 

Mory Gbane has three years left on his contract, and Transfermarkt value him at €4m. This is the highest value of his career.

Stade de Reims have sold five players for over €20m over the last three years. Their club-record is €28.5m, from Hugo Ekitiké’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain in 2023. Last month, they sold goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen to Newcastle United for €21.5m.

This may be an indication that Gbane’s signing won’t be cheap for West Ham United and Celtic.

Foot Mercato don’t mention the player’s preference among these clubs, who also have to convince him to win the transfer race.

Martin O’Neill’s side and Trabzonspor have made it to the Champions League and Europa League qualifiers respectively. The Hammers will play in the Championship next season, and whether this will reduce their chances is unclear.

West Ham are also keen on FC Metz’s Alpha Touré, who wants to join them this summer.
