Nicolo Savona joined Nottingham Forest from Juventus late in the summer transfer window. The Old Lady earned a major capital gain from the exit, as the Italian came through their youth system.

That’s a plan Juve have been following in recent years, with mixed results.  While the move benefitted the Italian giants, it hasn’t been the same for the 22-year-old so far.

Tuttomercatoweb are alarmed at his start to life at Nottingham Forest.

So far, Savona has started only two Premier League games and both have been losses. Savona also started against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League, but Ange Postecoglou’s side lost that too.

Nottingham Forest’s instability is mentioned. As is Savona’s struggles with an ankle injury picked up during the FIFA Club World Cup.

This saw the versatile defender miss several weeks of training.

TMW believe these two factors have prevented Savona from showing his ‘best side’ at the Tricky Trees.

Savona’s debut against Arsenal came at right-back, but he has now been used as a wing-back. During the Club World Cup, he was used at centre-back.

Given his age, the player has plenty of time to build experience and make an impact at Nottingham Forest. Italian concern is understandable, although perhaps premature.
