West Ham United may have an outside chance of convincing Thomas Tuchel to join them in the summer, when he leaves Bayern Munich.
That’s according to BILD, who say it’s ‘conceivable’ that the German could accept a return to the Premier League.
Tuchel is set to leave Bayern at the end of the season after he and the club elected to part ways following a series of disappointing performances over the last few months.
It will bring an end to a short stint in charge in Bavaria for Tuchel, who only arrived at the club to replace Julian Nagelsmann in March 2023.
The question is what comes next for the German coach, whose time at Bayern has not been a successful one.
Reports in England have indicated that West Ham are showing interest in him as a potential replacement for David Moyes, who has found himself under pressure and is yet to sign an extension to his contract, which expires in the summer.
On the face of it that seems an optimistic hire for the Hammers, but BILD say they may have a chance, albeit a slim one.
According to them while they only have an ‘outsider’ chance with Tuchel, the fact that he ‘raved about’ England works in their favour.
He ‘really enjoyed’ his time in charge of Chelsea, where he won the Champions League, and has raved about England and life in the Premier League ever since. Thus, a return to the division would be ‘conceivable’.
Indeed, he recently admitted he’d be interested in coaching abroad once again, furthering West Ham’s hopes of convincing him.
The fact that his future is ‘still completely open’ also works in their favour, should they elect to part ways with Moyes and try their luck with the outgoing Bayern coach.
