Liverpool star Roberto Firmino continues to have a hard time at the national team.
After missing out on recent call-ups, the striker was supposed to have a new chance to impress manager Tite in the friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia in this international break.
Firmino, however, was the only available player who didn’t get a single minute on the pitch, and as reported by UOL, it’s becoming more unlikely that he’ll go to the World Cup.
The outlet writes that despite having the ‘affection’ from Tite and even counting on some history at the national team, as he played the 2018 World Cup, getting a place in attack is now ‘very complicated’ for the Liverpool star.
The centre-forward position is mostly being disputed by Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus, while Pedro, who was only used for a few minutes against Tunisia, even scored a goal in the little chance he had.
UOL points out that the ‘solution’ for Firmino would be to fight for a place where he’d be a reserve for Neymar, disputing against other offensive midfielders.
Featuring for Liverpool this season, however, he’s mostly been a centre-forward, and has three goals and three assists in eight appearances.
