Nottingham Forest target Alejandro Grimaldo claims he’s still uncertain about his future.
As the left-back’s contract with Benfica expires of the end of the season, he’s free to accept any contract offers he receives in the coming weeks.
However, when speaking to the Portuguese media (via Record) about his situation, he claims he’s still focused on winning the league with the Eagles, and only then will think of a potential departure.
“It’s a complicated decision, it’s not easy, because Benfica is the club of my life,” said Grimaldo.
“The good and the bad times were spent here. We have to think about the important thing, which is winning the championship. Saying if I stay or not, if I make a decision, is not as important as Benfica winning the championship.”
The truth is that there are many other clubs, including from the Premier League, who are said to be interested in signing the 27-year-old for free as well, so it’s no surprise that he takes things calmly and analyses bids after the end of the season.
With a €60m release clause, Grimaldo had always been a wanted man in the transfer market, and Nottingham Forest would be making a great coup if signing him with no fee.
