Hamburg director Michael Mutzel has moved to allay fears regarding Manchester City youngster Thomas Doyle.

The young midfielder joined the German side on loan in the summer in search of the regular playing time that’s not on offer at the Etihad.

The 19-year-old is among the highest-rated players at the City academy, but the plethora of talent available to Guardiola means playing time was unlikely this year.

That’s not the case for Hamburg, who can offer the midfielder a first-team place in the 2. Bundesliga this season.

So far, he’s yet to appear for the German side, though, instead spending the last three games of the season sat on the bench.

That’s obviously led to some fears at Manchester City, with the whole point of the player joining the club having been him getting regular playing time.

Coach Tim Walter has already moved to allay those fears, and now his boss Michael Mutzel has echoed those comments.

“Tim Walter’s football requires a lot, both with and against the ball,” he told BILD.

“Especially the game against the ball, and the pressing moments are still a bit new for Tommy. But, we are completely relaxed about it.

“Tommy knows exactly where he stands, what the problem is. He still has to adjust certain things in order to play.

“We are definitely being patient. He is also showing why he got a contract with Manchester City.”
