West Ham United are one of the clubs in the picture to sign UD Almería’s Marc Pubill this summer, according to ASRomaLive.it.
The Spanish club signed the right-back from Levante UD in August 2023. Last season, he made 23 appearances for Almería, who were relegated from La Liga.
Pubill has managed to attract interest from other clubs, including AS Roma, Bologna and Newcastle United.
On Thursday, Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio stated the Giallorossi were set to meet the 21-year-old’s agent. ASRomaLive.it now state Daniele De Rossi’s side will face a ‘new threat’ from West Ham to sign Pubill.
It’s claimed Julen Lopetegui’s side have joined the race to sign the Spain U23 international in the ‘last few hours’.
The Hammers are looking for a new right-back in this window, and came close to securing a deal for Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui. The Moroccan snubbed West Ham, forcing them to look for another target and this is where Pubill has emerged as a new option.
Although West Ham are a ‘threat’ for the Serie A side, the report says Roma are still one of the main contenders to sign Pubill.
On Friday, Diario de Almería insisted that Almería could negotiate Pubill’s sale for less than his €40m clause.
