The Italian media continues to be quite excited with the situation of Gabriel Barbosa, who after years, could finally become a good sale for Inter Milan.
The Brazilian has been doing pretty well in his loan at Flamengo, where he’s scored 33 goals in 45 games this season. And despite the wish from the Rio de Janeiro side to buy him, there would be some competition for his signing.
Website Passione Inter claimed this week that Crystal Palace are in talks to buy the striker, but the competition continues to grow, as it’s now Schalke 04 who are mentioned as the most likely buyers.
It’s a story from Sport Media Set which is doing the rounds in Italy today, claiming that the German side could pay €30m for Gabigol.
The story has one discreet mention about ‘some German newspaper’ who would be claiming that. That’s a source we’ve failed to find, and Sport Media Set really didn’t mind developing a long story based on this little piece of information, which is not properly credited.
Inter Milan paid €30m to sign Gabigol from Santos back in 2016, and after having failed in Europe, the striker had two loans in Brazil until he could impress that much again. So we wonder if clubs are really interested in paying the same amount once again.
Gabigol’s loan at Flamengo expires in December, so he would be available for a transfer in the January market.
Would Crystal Palace spend that much on him? This rumour is looking murky, especially because there’s a club who are really interested in selling the player, or at least trying to convince Flamengo to pay more.
