Leeds United’s Diego Llorente is edging closer to completing a move to Real Betis this summer.
On Monday, both Mundo Deportivo and Marca reported Betis have agreed a €3m deal with the Whites. It was also stated the defender will sign a four-year contract.
Later that day, El Chiringuito journalist Gonzalo Tortosa reported the defender has arrived in Seville to undergo medical tests with Real Betis.
The Spaniard will be the second player to leave Leeds for the Andalusian club. Marc Roca, who spent last season on loan at Real Betis, has returned to the club on a permanent transfer.
On Monday, the 27-year-old midfielder was presented to the media, where he was asked about his compatriot, Llorente. His comments are relayed by Estadio Deportivo, who state the centre-back is about to become a new Real Betis player.
Roca claimed Llorente has received several offers, but he’ll be pleased if the Whites man joins him at Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
“Yes, obviously I would advise it because that’s where I am, you want the best for yourself, and for your friends too. If he ends up signing, which is not whether it is official or not, he will be very well, at home,” he said.
“He had many offers and if he has decided to come, it’s because he knows it will be very good. He is a very good person and is a great professional. He is a forceful centre-back, with good physique and good ball delivery.”
“If we sign him, he will help us a lot. I want the best for my friends. If he has chosen Betis it is because he knows he is going to be very good.”
Leeds have allowed Llorente to spend the last 18 months on loan at AS Roma. The Italian club tried to bring him back on loan this summer, but he has decided to join Real Betis instead.
