Former Inter Milan and Brazil international Cesar expects his compatriot Philippe Coutinho to remain at Liverpool. Coutinho has been in impressive form for the Merseyside club this season, which has led to claims Barcelona are interested in him.

Speaking to TMW, Cesar was asked about the progression Coutinho has made since he left Inter Milan for Liverpool, and whether a return to Italy could happen.

The 42-year-old believes no club apart from Juventus would be able to afford the attacker, and that he thinks the Serie A champions aren’t interested anyway. Cesar said as dar as he knows the player is happy, and expects him to stay at Liverpool.

“The Italian teams can’t afford him anymore, beyond Juventus, they can no longer pay for players like him. I do not know, but I don’t think Juventus want him, and he’s fine at Liverpool for what I know,” said Cesar on the Liverpool playmaker.

In the past two seasons Coutinho has been one of the standout players not just at Liverpool, but also in the Premier League. The youngster is also producing similar displays for Brazil, and he scored the first goal as his country demolished Argentina 3-0 last night.

Jurgen Klopp has already stated that Coutinho is going nowhere, and with Liverpool top of the league, and the Brazilian the star man, right now there’s no huge pressure for him to move.

Barcelona may well be interested to some level, but Coutinho may not fancy playing second fiddle to the club’s superstar trident. Not just yet anyway.
