Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has been warned about joining Tottenham this summer, with them a “coach’s graveyard”.
That’s according to Dutch analyst Rene van der Gijp, who believes it would not be worth the money the manager could make in England.
Slot has earned himself a growing reputation this season after leading Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title with an attractive brand of football on a limited budget.
He’s already been targeted by the Premier League, with Leeds trying to hire him as Jesse Marsch’s replacement earlier this year.
He now appears to be in the running for the Tottenham job, with them still searching for Antonio Conte’s successor and believed to have Slot high on their list of potential candidates.
That’s sparked fierce debate in the Netherlands over whether he should make the move and Van der Gijp is one of those who thinks he shouldn’t, revealing his rather lowly opinion of Tottenham in comments to Vandaag Inside.
“You’re going to make an awful lot of money, but it’s still a club where you don’t get the best players,” he said.
“They have exceptional players with Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, but if they leave, you don’t pick up a Kane anymore. They won’t go there. It is a coach’s graveyard over there.”
