Italian outlet Calcio Mercato features a piece today on the future of Atletico Madrid youngster Rodrigo Riquelme.
Currently having a loan spell at Bournemouth, the 20-year-old is gaining some experience in the Championship, with two goals in 15 appearances so far.
According to the report, his appearances in England have been drawing attention from Serie A sides.
The specific clubs aren’t named, but are said to be watching Riquelme’s situation, looking for opportunities to sign him in the summer.
Calcio Mercato says that in case Riquelme returns to Atletico Madrid at the end of the season and finds out Diego Simeone doesn’t have big plans for him, then he should ask for a move abroad.
The website doesn’t even consider his chances of him staying at Bournemouth, only highlighting that Italian clubs like him and labelling him a ‘new João Félix’.
However, when announcing the signing last summer, the Cherries confirmed they have a buying option over Riquelme. So that’s probably something the Italian media should consider before thinking Serie A clubs would have an easy path to land the winger, as perhaps he wouldn’t even return to Madrid.
