It’s been weeks since the Brazilian media reported the agreement between Flamengo and Manchester United for the permanent transfer of Andreas Pereira, and the Rio de Janeiro side are still to confirm the purchase.

That’s why their vice-president Marcos Braz continues to be asked about the situation, and in a press conference on Monday, he finally addressed the subject.

“This Andreas situation will be spoken of at the right time, when we have to talk about. What you have followed and seen before, you already know. On the right day, everything will be told right,” said Marcos Braz (via O Globo).

“It was always told like this, all explanations of all actions are later put in what the club declares on the balance sheet. If confirmed, at the right time we will talk about it too.”

Covering the quotes, outlet O Globo claims his statement is ‘a way of delaying the announcement’. They say the deal with Manchester United is already agreed, both for the purchase as well as for Andreas Pereira’s new personal contract.

Their report also claims that in early April, when Flamengo must announce their squad for the Copa Libertadores, the board expect to have him registered already with his new contract. In other words, that’s his purchase from Manchester United being confirmed in the next few weeks.

The signing is highly controversial because of the form Pereira has been having since December, but it seems that despite the negative reaction from their fans, the Brazilian club will carry on with their plan.
