It’s the post-mortem transfer market stage.

When agents and the media look back at what happened during the January window, and what didn’t… with blame being sent various ways.

Mundo Deportivo take another look at Jonny’s permanent move to Wolves, which has cost the Premier League club €17m, €18m or €20m depending on who you wish to believe.

For Wolves it absolutely looks like a good signing at a good cost, especially for a player who is now a Spanish international.

Mundo explain it also works well for Atletico Madrid and there’s once again a suggestion that this could have been the plan all along. The Spanish club have bought and sold several players in recent seasons, without them ever pulling on the shirt for an official match.

It’s a way to bring in income.

Barcelona are also looking that way too, having been so pleased with the huge profit they made on Yerry Mina when selling him to Everton. That was due almost entirely to the player’s performance at the World Cup, because before that he could have gone for perhaps a third of the money.

Mundo Deportivo call the Jonny move ‘peculiar’, and it is in a way, but Wolves shouldn’t care too much. They add: ‘Clubs start to look like farms, breeding and fattening. When they’ve gained the weight, off to the market.’
