There’s no denying that Napoli, of all the clubs in Europe right now, are among the most entertaining sides to watch.
That is in part thanks to the style of football Luciano Spalletti has put in place, but also due to the players at his disposal, such as Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who are being watched by big clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool.
That is according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who point out how attractive some of the Napoli players have become thanks to their performances, which has drawn attention from the best around Europe.
They write that the two stars ‘are observed by the most powerful clubs – from Liverpool to United to Real Madrid’, which is why the club’s owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis, should he decide to sell someone, ‘would discuss figures around €100m for each of them’.
Manchester United’s interest in the Nigeria international is nothing new, as they reportedly tried to sign him over the summer, but never managed to convince him or Napoli that the move was right for him.
There was even chatter about a swap deal involving Cristiano Ronaldo, but that equally failed to gain any traction with the Serie A side, who knew what they had and wanted to have all their stars at their disposal this season.
As for Liverpool, they were able to see both Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia first hand in the Champions League, as the pair were on the pitch when Napoli beat Jürgen Klopp’s men 4-1 in the group opener.
The Georgian made Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold look rather sheepish on more than one occasion, which is probably where the interest started.
Whether Manchester United or Liverpool ever come forward remains to be seen, but their club certainly won’t be in January, as Napoli are currently top of Serie A, and will not want to weaken themselves in what could be a splendid season for them.
