Ajax’s decision to try and get more money from West Ham United for Brian Brobbey should be questioned, as should the transfer stance of all Dutch clubs.
That’s according to analyst René van der Gijp, who believes Ajax should have been driving Brobbey to West Ham themselves.
Voetbal Zone cover comments from him today during an appearance on Vandaag Inside, when the transfer business being done by Dutch clubs was part of a roundtable discussion.
Brobbey is one of several players in the Eredivisie to be linked with a move away this month, with West Ham United making a move for him last week.
They had reportedly submitted a bid for the Dutch striker and even offered him €100,000-a-week in wages to make the move to the London Stadium. The striker then added to the transfer speculation by making a mystery trip to London.
A move has not progressed from that point, though, with West Ham instead seemingly travelling around Europe looking at other striker options as Ajax had demanded too much for their striker.
René van der Gijp cannot understand that in the slightest and admits he would have been driving Brobbey to West Ham if he was in charge of Ajax’s transfers.
“It’s a good thing I am not a technical director, because they would all have been there already,” he said regarding Brobbey and others.
“Hancko had already been to Juventus, Lang to Napoli and Brobbey to West Ham United. I hear amounts coming up… 35 million for Noa Lang!? What are you waiting for? Seventy million? “Don’t be so weird man.
“And what do you think of Brobbey? Come on man, one goal and €35m, and then Ajax hesitate. I would say: ‘I’ll bring them all, I’ll drive over’”
