At this point, it’s clear that Inter Milan have taken the lead in the race to sign Gianluca Scamacca from West Ham United.
We’ve already covered the situation a few times when it comes to what’s being said in Italy on the matter, and Alfredo Pedulla, speaking to Passione Fiorentina on Twitch, relayed by Labaro Viola, brings an update.
He recalls that Inter made their first move for the West Ham player back on July 20th, at a time when Folarin Balogun was still ahead of him in the pecking order.
They were just trying to find out what the Hammers’ stance were like when it came to the Italian forward leaving the club this summer, and it seems they like what they heard.
The Serie A side came forward with a first offer, as has been widely reported, but that was deemed not enough by the Premier League side.
However, as Pedulla states, the second one could be the right one, and it could arrive very quickly.
He said: “Inter have already made an offer, which, in case of a raise, could lead to the white smoke. West Ham, if they collect €30m, will sell him. Inter have offered an obligation to buy, and not an option to buy. If Inter reach €30m with bonuses, they will take him. They will wait until they return from the tour.”
That last bit of information is quite important, as Tuesday marks their last day in Japan for their pre-season tour there, which ended on a good note as they beat Paris Saint-Germain 2-1.
This means they could return as early as tomorrow to Italy, at which point Inter could send their next offer to West Ham soon after.
