Sporting’s chase for Coventry City striker Viktor Gyökeres suddenly became one of the main transfer rumours in the Portuguese media.
Following many reports in the past few days, several newspapers today share a story on that pursuit, and that’s outlet A Bola who has the most interesting piece.
The outlet has a full-page article explaining that to sign Gyökeres from Coventry City, Sporting will need to break their transfer record.
It’s highlighted that the interest is ‘real’, and following contacts between all parties involved, just the official offer is missing and will be the next step.
A Bola claims Sporting can offer €15m plus bonuses, and that could break their record, which was set when they signed Paulinho for €16m.
What could harm the Lions’ chances of a deal are the interest from Premier League chances with the likes of Everton, Fulham and Newcastle United getting reported by the English media lately as interested parties.
There’s some hope, though, because Gyökeres himself is said to be pleased with the chance of playing for the Portuguese club. They just need to get to a deal with Coventry City first.
