Following the big interest from Brazilian clubs in the temporary signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea, there’s now a good reason why those sides are giving up on that transfer.
Journalist Samir Carvalho features a video on his Youtube channel where he explains why Corinthians no longer have an interest in that deal.
It’s claimed that Chelsea did accept to loan out the midfielder, who, despite having joined them in January, still hasn’t been able to get a work permit for the Premier League.
But Carvalho says that the Blues wanted to send the player for only four months, until the end of the European season, and Corinthians would have to afford his ‘absurd’ salary in that period.
It turns out that the Brazilian season is just starting, and it wouldn’t make sense for any club to make such investment to use the player for just half of the year.
That’s why not only Corinthians, but also other clubs who have been in talks, are set to lose interest in landing the midfielder right now.
Carvalho adds that Chelsea stay hopeful of getting that work permit following Andrey’s appearances in the U-20 South American Championship.
If that doesn’t happen, then they’ll keep trying loaning him out to a club who are playing the Copa Libertadores, so he can get the necessary points for the visa.
