Following the announcement that Kylian Mbappé would be leaving Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, stories quickly emerged that Liverpool’s Luis Diaz was a target for the Ligue 1 club.
There have been a few updates since then, but it appears a lot of it is unfounded, or, at least, comes from somewhere other than the French side’s offices.
Le10 Sport in France decided to dig into the situation a bit more, and found out why the Liverpool star has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain and where the link has come from.
It’s said that according to what they have learnt, the Champions League side ‘have not made any approaches’ for the Reds winger, and nor have they contacted his entourage or the Premier League club.
The reason for that is that a move for Diaz ‘is not under consideration’ by Luis Campos, the man in charge of transfers at Paris Saint-Germain.
So why the rumours? That, according to Le10 Sport, is because of Antero Henrique, described as ‘a man behind the scenes and trusted by Doha’, who is working on a few moves ‘in isolation’.
He is doing so ‘without consulting Luis Campos or PSG’s official directors’, and has been doing this for the past two years.
This behaviour has led to some internally asking ‘clear questions about his real intentions’, with some feeling he is trying to ‘destabilise the club’ as they try and win the Champions League.
Another reason is that Luis Diaz has ‘entrusted the management of some of his interests’ to a Portuguese lawyer called Raul Costa, who has been associated to Antero Henrique in ‘other business deals’.
Therefore, this closeness between the two men gives another reason why the Liverpool star is being associated to Paris Saint-Germain.
However, according to Le10 Sport’s sources, the Ligue 1 side do not have Diaz on their radar.
