Now that football is back in full swing after the World Cup, Tottenham will be turning their attention to the Champions League.
Their clash against Milan is right around the corner, and the Serie A side will be preparing down their own end as they deal with a frustrating list of injuries.
One of the worries, as mentioned a few days ago, was the potential absence of Ismael Bennacer, and there were doubts he would be ready in time to face Tottenham.
Well, an update from Corriere dello Sport hints that he might, in fact, make it, as they explain both he and Fikayo Tomori ‘aim to be in the Champions League in six days’.
The checks conducted by Milan on Tuesday were positive, and that will be a big boost for Stefano Pioli’s side, who have struggled of late with results.
One man they will have to do without, however, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, is Mike Maignan, who has been out since before the World Cup with a finger injury.
While he was initially ‘expected to see the light again in mid-February’, which would have allowed a return for the game against Tottenham, those hopes must be ‘extinguished immediately’, as the player will ‘hardly be there’, and he needs ‘more time to complete the recovery’.
Therefore, he is expected to be out until the end of the month, so could be back for the return leg in London on March 6th.
