Atlético Madrid signing Julián Álvarez from Manchester City may not be as difficult as it appears, as they’re a club who know how to make difficult transfers happen.
That’s according to Marca, who say previous deals for Luis Suarez and Joao Félix, show Atlético have the ability to pull off the seemingly impossible.
A report earlier today indicated that Atlético were eyeing a surprise move for the Manchester City striker, with the first approaches already made to the Argentine’s entourage.
Knowing his desires and his potential availability is the first step in a big transfer move from them, which would also involve using fellow Argentines Rodrigo De Paul, Nahuel Molina and Joaquin Correa to convince him of the switch.
There have been no formal conversations with Manchester City as yet, indeed Atlético are not really on the path to getting a deal done, but they’re well accustomed to traversing the road to difficult transfers well.
They’ve done complicated deals before, signing the likes of David Villa and Luis Suárez from Barcelona and even somehow winning the battle for Joao Félix inn 2019 when Real Madrid and Manchester City were very much in the mix.
That seemed unfeasible but they pulled it off and it shows those at the club know what they are doing and can cover difficult ground with skill and ease to get the transfer that they want.
Whether they can do so to get Julián Álvarez from Manchester City remains to be seen as the only feasible option for them at this moment in time is to get him on loan.
The belief is that he may help their cause as he may want out of the Etihad because of the competition he has there, something which may open the door and make a loan, which seems impossible, entirely plausible.
