The Benfica exodus to Wolverhampton continues, at least for the Portuguese press. Just like every other player who could be leaving the Portuguese club this month, it’s now Luisão who has just been linked to Wolves.

The 35-year-old defender, whose contract expires next summer, is said to be in the English club’s plans for the season. According to Record, both Benfica and the player are prepared to discuss the move.

Although Luisão is an idol at Benfica, he’s been showing signs of his age. And due to the club’s many options for the defence, he’s not considered to be untransferable anymore.

Record’s article had a quick response on social media. The Brazilian posted a picture of his daughter on Instagram this morning, and the comments are all from Benfica fans asking him to stay or thanking him for his years at the club.

If it’s possible, it’d surely be better for Luisão to stay where he is and end his career at Benfica, or even return to Brazil.

He’s been at Benfica since 2003, and adapting to the Championship is asking a lot of a player who turns 36 in February.
