Norrkoping defender Linus Wahlqvist is continuing be linked with a move away from the Swedish club in the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old has been in impressive form in the past 12 months, which has brought him to the attention of Leeds United.

Expressen journalist Daniel Kristoffersson has spoken about Norrkoping’s chances of winning the Swedish league this season after the new campaign got underway last weekend. Kristoffersson believes Norrkoping will be in the mix this season to become champions, but their ambitions could be harmed in the summer.

Norrkoping will have problems keeping hold of their players. The Swedish journalist expects Linus Wahlqvist will be one player who will leave the club, and that some of his teammates will also be sold.

We recently reported the Swedish club need to sell players in order to balance the books, and have budgeted for this. Norrkoping to need to raise £7m by selling players in the next 12 months, which could be achieved by Wahlqvist leaving the club.

Leeds United have already tried to sign the full back, making approach for the Sweden international last summer. Throughout this season Leeds United have continued to be linked with the youngster in the Swedish media, and it’s expected they will again show interest in the next window.

The Swedish league runs until November, using a different calendar due to weather, and Wahlqvist joining Leeds United in the summer would disrupt the club’s campaign.
