Sevilla are working on a special formula to try and convince Newcastle United to accept a low-cost deal for goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos this summer.

Newcastle demands too high
Odysseas Vlachodimos joined Sevilla on loan from Newcastle last summer and quickly became a key player for the La Liga club. He ended the season as their best player, by some distance, and a firm fan favourite.
Sevilla would like to keep him permanently. The Greek goalkeeper has also made it clear he wants to stay. But there are obstacles in the way to that.
To start, Newcastle want a sale worth €10-11m. Sevilla cannot afford that as they’re currently facing ‘extreme accounting limitations’ that would prevent such a purchase. So, they have been forced to propose a ‘very clever alternative’ to reduce the cost.
Their proposal would be to grant Newcastle a right of first refusal or priority purchase option on various assets in the first team or in the club’s youth system, the Carretera de Utrera.

So, Newcastle could be given a first option on first team players such as Lucien Agoumé, Akor Adams, and Rubén Vargas. They’re just three names on a long list.
It would also include promising youngsters from the Nervión youth academy. Some of these are already being monitored by major international scouts.
Whether Newcastle would be interested in such a proposal isn’t clear. But Sevilla President José María del Nido Carrasco’s advisors are working on the framework. They’re proceeding cautiously and know negotiations with Newcastle will drag on for the next few weeks.
They absolutely want to sign Vlachodimos permanently, but the finances are in their way. The hope is that the current proposal can convince Newcastle to accept a lower deal that they can actually afford.
