Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports Fiorentina ‘dream’ of signing Giovani Lo Celso from Tottenham Hotspur, and it’s not a dream they plan to leave unfulfilled.
According to the article, which is hugely complimentary towards the Argentine, La Viola are working on the plan but know it will be difficult. Lo Celso spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal, and the Spanish club are also interested in taking him again this summer.
Fiorentina know they have competition to beat and therefore probably won’t be able to get the type of deal they’d prefer. In typically Serie A style, the club would want a loan for next season with a purchase option at the end of it.
Tottenham would likely reject that idea, so then the Tuscany club would look at a loan with a purchase obligation or maybe even a straight transfer. To fund that they’d need at least one sale, and it’s stated there’s a possibility a club such as Inter Milan could move for Nikola Milenkovic.
Gazzetta say Spurs won’t accept less than €20m, yet there’s every chance the Premier League could hold out for more and see how the window develops.
Whether Lo Celso himself would be keen on the move isn’t mentioned, suggesting there’s been no contact with the player’s camp yet.
