Miguel Almirón has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United in the winter market.
The winger’s game time has been limited, with 136 minutes from seven league games this season. In the last two months, he’s been restricted to 34 minutes of action from two Premier League matches.
His entourage is trying to take him away from Newcastle in January. That’s according to journalist Fernando Esquivel, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide the latest.
He says there’s uncertainty around the Paraguay international’s future with the Magpies. Therefore, the 30-year-old’s camp is offering him to clubs with ‘purchasing power’ and Cruz Azul are one of them.
The Mexican club are currently leading the league table and have two other players with a profile similar to that of Almirón on their list. Esquivel claims they see the Newcastle man as a market opportunity.
The journalist claims Cruz Azul have decided to wait and they will analyse the possibility of signing him ‘early in January’. If they aren’t able to sign the Paraguay international, the Mexican club will focus on other targets.
Almirón’s agent Daniel Campos had earlier stated his client wants to stay in Europe, while Esquivel now claims his entourage is offering him to non-European clubs.
